Erdal Dere’s Background in the Art Trade
Dere was associated with Fortuna Fine Arts Ltd., a New York gallery known for dealing in ancient art and historical artifacts. Information published in 2020 identified him as the son of Selim Dere, who founded the family’s business in New York.
His professional work connected him with the antiquities market, including the trade involving collectors, dealers, and historical objects.
Previous Legal Scrutiny
Dere’s professional history also included a federal case reported in 2020. According to the supplied material, authorities arrested Dere and his business associate, Faisal Khan, over allegations concerning falsified provenance records for antiquities offered for sale.
Provenance records document an object’s history of ownership and origin. The allegations related to those records were a separate legal matter and do not establish anything about the current reports of Dere’s possible death.
It is important to distinguish the reported legal history from unverified claims about his present circumstances.
